MATTHEW HEYERT
Role: Litigation Attorney
Education: Matthew earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University, where he majored in English, before receiving his Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law. His academic background in writing, analysis, and advocacy continues to inform his practical, detail-oriented approach to legal work.
Matthew has also pursued advanced professional and technical training beyond the law, including the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) credential, the Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) certification, and advanced coursework in JavaScript. This combination of legal, project-management, privacy, and technical training allows him to approach complex matters with a broad understanding of both legal risk and the operational realities facing modern businesses.
Matthew Heyert is an attorney with extensive experience in employment law and complex civil litigation. His practice includes advising and representing employers and employees on wage-and-hour issues, restrictive covenants, workplace policies, employee discipline and separation, discrimination and retaliation claims, and other employment-related disputes. Matt has handled matters through all stages of litigation, including pre-suit investigation, discovery, depositions, dispositive motions, mediation, arbitration, trial preparation, and appellate and federal court practice. He also counsels businesses on employment compliance, corporate governance, contracting, and risk management, with additional experience in data privacy and regulatory compliance. Matt is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).
Outside the office, Matt enjoys spending time with his family and, in particular, finding ways to get outdoors with his 8- and 16-year-old kids. Whether it is attending their activities, exploring the Pacific Northwest, or simply spending time together outside, family is an important part of his life away from the practice of law.
